Bodywork · Movement Therapy
A dance of deep pressure, dynamic stretching, and energetic attunement, cradled the safety of loving kindness and non-judgement. This is not a massage. This is a remembering.
What is Zenthai Shiatsu
Zenthai Shiatsu is a transformative blend of Zen Shiatsu, Thai massage, and Osteopathic techniques. At its core, it is about restoring the harmony between body, mind, and spirit as the key to holistic healing. Sessions are personalised, addressing your unique needs and allowing for a tailored experience and genuine rejuvenation.
Embedded within Zenthai Shiatsu are the ancient principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This time-honoured healing system recognises the body as an interconnected network of energy channels, or meridians. Blood, Ki, and nerve pathways form the internal rivers that keep us alive and well. Your doctor might call them arterial flow or nerve pathways. An alternative practitioner might call them the river of life. When this flow is obstructed through emotional or physical holding, postural imbalance, or external stress, the body's natural healing capacity is challenged. The river stagnates. The result is pain, low energy, and a loss of the feeling of wellbeing.
Zenthai Shiatsu addresses that need, promoting the free flow of life force energy and encouraging balance to return from within.
"Zenthai is designed to feel good. You can expect to leave feeling refreshed, revitalised, and grounded, more at home in your own body."
— Gwyn Williams, Founder of Zenthai Shiatsu
Three lineages. One practice.
Each tradition brings a distinct intelligence to the session. Together they address the whole person, structural, energetic, and emotional, in a way that no single modality can alone.
Origin · Japan
Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zen Shiatsu works with the meridian system, the energetic channels that run through the body, each connected to an organ and a quality of life. Using acupressure rather than needles, the practitioner reads and responds to the body's energy patterns, releasing blockages and restoring flow. This is where the diagnostic intelligence of the session lives.
Origin · Thailand
Originating from monks meditating and moving through the mountains of India, Traditional Thai massage carries an inherently sacred undertone. It brings fluidity, dynamic stretching, and rhythm, the body is moved, guided, and lengthened in ways that release tension stored deep in the muscles and fascia. You are not simply lying still. You are being moved.
Origin · Euro-Western
The structural layer of the work. Osteopathy brings joint mobilisation, fascial unwinding, and connective tissue technique, addressing the body's physical architecture directly. Grounded in the belief that the body has an inherent intelligence and desire to heal itself, this element of Zenthai supports alignment, ease of movement, and the release of long-held postural patterns.
What to Expect
Sessions take place on a soft floor mat. You remain fully clothed throughout, loose, comfortable clothing is recommended. There is no oil, no table, no clinical atmosphere. Just presence, touch, and movement.
We begin with a short conversation about where you are: physically, emotionally, energetically. There's no form to fill in. Just a genuine check-in.
The session opens with stillness, hands resting on the body, listening before acting. The practitioner reads the quality of your energy and allows that to guide the session.
A flowing sequence of pressure, stretching, movement, and stillness. Your body will be repositioned, supine, side-lying, seated, sometimes face-down. Each transition is unhurried.
The session closes with stillness. Time is given to integrate before you return to the world. Many people describe this as the most important part.
What Zenthai can support
Lower back pain, neck and shoulder tension, joint stiffness, and muscular holding are among the most common conditions supported. The combination of acupressure, stretching, and osteopathic technique addresses both symptom and pattern.
Zenthai has a profound regulating effect on the nervous system. Many people arrive carrying the accumulated tension of weeks and leave feeling genuinely settled, not just relaxed, but reset.
Depleted energy, difficulty sleeping, and a general flatness often point to blocked or stagnant Ki. By working with the meridian system, Zenthai helps restore the natural flow that underpins how alive we feel.
Many digestive complaints: bloating, irregularity, discomfort, have an energetic component that responds well to this work. The abdominal meridians are often a central focus of Zenthai sessions.
The body stores what the mind hasn't finished processing. Emotional releases during a Zenthai session, tears, a sudden sigh, warmth moving through, are normal, welcomed, and gently held.
Many clients come not with a specific complaint but with a sense of disconnection, from their body, from their feeling life, from themselves. Zenthai has a particular gift for this. Presence is the medicine.
In practice
Jacob's approach
I am a dedicated researcher and practitioner in the field of mind and body practices, with a profound passion for exploring the connection between the physical and the deeper dimensions of our wellbeing. Zenthai Shiatsu sits at the centre of that exploration.
My training is grounded in the Zenthai tradition as developed by Gwyn Williams, woven together with years of study in Traditional Chinese Medicine, somatic psychotherapy, psychology, and energy work. What I bring to a session is more than a lineage. It is the accumulated understanding of my own healing journey and what that makes possible for another person.
I believe in restoring harmony between body, mind, and spirit as the foundation of holistic healing. Every session is different. I listen deeply, follow the body's intelligence, and work with what is present. The session that unfolds is always the right one for where you are.
