Agreements with the Universe
How I built a physical dialogue with my guides, and why you can too

This one came to me early. Very early in my awakening, before I had language for any of it, I noticed that my physical world was already talking to me. And when I say that, I mean specifically the way I move through space.
I am, by nature, quite dextrous. I move through rooms cleanly, pick things up without missing, have reasonable depth perception. Clumsy is genuinely not my baseline. So when I started noticing that I was dropping things, bumping into corners, or reaching for something and missing, I began to pay attention to the pattern underneath it.
What I found was that these interruptions were consistent enough, and timed well enough, to be something more than coincidence. My guides, my higher self, whatever benevolent intelligence was present, were using the haptic feedback of my physical environment to communicate with me. And once I named that possibility out loud and invited it in deliberately, the whole system became more refined.
When you give the universe more ways to talk to you, it uses them. And when you confirm what each signal means, it calibrates to your language.
The twice rule
One occurrence of anything is a notice. Once I drop something, I register it, maybe take a breath, and continue. Once I bump into something, I note it and move on.
Twice is the golden rule. Twice means something is being said. Twice in quick succession, the same type of interruption, and I stop what I am doing and pay attention. The universe has my full ear at that point.
This keeps the system clean. If every minor fumble sent me into deep contemplation, I would get nothing done. But when the signal repeats, I know it carried genuine intent. That threshold took a while to find, and it feels right.
My personal agreements
Over years of building this dialogue, here is what the different signals have come to mean for me. These are specific to my field. Yours will be different, and that is the point.
Jacob's current agreements
Dropping something
I am forgetting or overlooking something. Pause, take a breath, recalculate before continuing.
Missing a grab
I have drifted from my centre. A cue to come back into my body before continuing the task.
Bumping into something
I need to slow down and ground. The pace I am moving at is outrunning my presence.
Pain behind the left eye
Too much passive consumption. Time to move away from entertainment and toward the work that nourishes.
Pain behind the right eye
Working too hard on one task. The signal to switch and rebalance the day.
Sore shoulders
Carrying too much responsibility, or taking on what belongs to others. Time to set something down.
Sore knees
My relationship to structure and support needs attention. Look at how I am holding myself.
Every body part has a metaphysical relationship. The shoulders carry responsibility. The hips carry ancestral weight and creative force. The knees relate to how we move through structure. The throat to expression. Over time I have built a much larger system for reading what the body is communicating, and that system informs how I work with others in sessions as well.
Setting boundaries with the universe
This is the part people do not often talk about. When you invite the universe to communicate through physical interruption, you are opening a channel. That channel needs a boundary, or the signal will occasionally overshoot.
My rule is simple: no blood, no bruises. The interruptions I have agreed to are mild. A dropped cup, a stubbed toe, a moment of clumsiness. The moment an intervention causes genuine physical harm, something has been miscalibrated. At that point I speak to it directly.
The boundary
I appreciate how you communicate with me. I also hold this boundary: the signals stay mild. If they have escalated, I am taking full responsibility for missing the earlier cues, and I ask for recalibration now.
The escalation tends to happen when we have been ignoring a signal. If the gentle version of a message has been landing and we have been brushing it off, the system turns up the volume. That is on us as much as it is on the field. Taking responsibility for having missed the earlier cues is part of resetting the agreement.
Why physical signals matter
Clairaudience, clairvoyance, claircognizance, all of these develop over time and have their own rhythms and limitations. There are days when none of them feel accessible. When the visual channel is quiet, when the knowing is not coming through, when sitting in meditation produces nothing useful.
The physical channel is always on. Even on the days when I am fully in my human, when rituals feel distant and spiritual practice feels effortful, my body is still in the world. And if I have set up the agreements, the world can still reach me through it.
That is what I find most valuable about this system. The others go offline sometimes. This one persists right through the ordinary moments of a day, through the doing and the forgetting and the rushing. A dropped object in a busy morning can carry more than an hour of meditation on a day when the signal is weak.
I hope this opens something for you. Find your own signals. Give the universe your language. Then listen to how it speaks back, and refine from there.
