Energetic
Hygiene

Most people are carrying energy that was never theirs to begin with. The practice of keeping your field clear is not spiritual maintenance. It is the foundation of everything else.

01 / What it is

Your energy field is not sealed

We are not separate from the people around us. We walk through environments, conversations, and collective emotional fields all day, and unless you have a practice of clearing and returning to yourself, some of what you encounter sticks.

This is not a metaphor. Anyone who works closely with people in a therapeutic, caregiving, or high-contact environment will recognise the feeling of arriving home from a day of sessions feeling like someone else. Heavy, scattered, or carrying a mood that did not belong to the morning.

Energetic hygiene is the practice of knowing what belongs to you and what does not, and developing consistent, simple ways to return your field to its own clarity.

02 / Why it matters

Accumulated energy changes how you think

When we carry unprocessed energy from others, it begins to influence our perception. Anxieties that are not ours start to feel like ours. Thought loops that began in someone else's field can run in our own mind for days if we do not clear them.

For practitioners and sensitives this is amplified. But it is not exclusive to them. Anyone in a close relationship, a demanding workplace, or a densely populated environment is affected.

The more developed your sensitivity, the more important a regular clearing practice becomes. Not because you are more fragile, but because you are more permeable. Permeability is a gift when it is managed. When it is not, it becomes depletion.

03 / The Practice

Five practices, choose what works

1

The return breath

Three slow breaths with the clear intention: I am returning to myself. Nothing elaborate. The intention is the mechanism. The breath is simply the anchor for it.

2

Water

Water clears energy. A shower at the end of a session day, or simply washing your hands and forearms with the conscious intention of clearing what is not yours, is genuinely effective. Not symbolic. Functional.

3

The ownership check

When a feeling or thought arrives that seems out of place, ask: is this mine? If the answer is unclear, imagine returning it to wherever it came from with no judgment attached. You are not rejecting it. You are simply not carrying what was never yours to carry.

4

Earthing

Bare feet on earth or grass. Direct contact with the ground is one of the oldest and most effective clearing practices there is. Even two minutes recalibrates the nervous system and the field together.

5

The field audit (for practitioners)

After sessions, before sleep: a brief scan of the body from feet to crown. Notice anything that feels foreign in quality or location. With a clear breath, release it. Thank your body for noticing. This takes two minutes and changes everything over time.

YOUR FIELD

04 / Going Deeper

This is a lifelong practice, not a fix

Energetic hygiene is not something you master once and complete. It is something you return to, refine, and deepen as your sensitivity expands.

As you develop your own practice of working with energy, whether in sessions with others or in your personal life, you will begin to notice the difference between your clear baseline state and the states that accumulate from contact. That noticing is the whole skill. The clearing practices above are simply the mechanics.

The deeper work is developing the self-awareness to know when you are not yourself, the self-respect to act on that knowing, and the consistency to return to clarity as a matter of course rather than emergency.

Begin simply. The return breath. Water. The ownership check. Let the rest develop from there.

Your energy is your most fundamental resource. Not your time, not your money, not your relationships. Your energy. Everything else follows from whether it is clear, full, and genuinely yours.
